Amanda was born and brought up in Zimbabwe, moving to the UK in 1982, where she held a variety of jobs including working in Harrods and as an entertainer in an Residential Home for the Eldely ( yes, she does know all the words to "Its a Long Way To Tipperary!) Amanda has two daughters from two marriages and is currently single. Amanda has a BA ( Hons) degree with the Open University which took some doing whilst working full time and being a mother.

Diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of 30, Amanda and her family made the move to Spain nine years ago where she now currently lives. It must be the effects of all that sun, sea and sangria but Amanda's long held love of writing actually got her employed at a local English speaking newspaper as a journalist. She went on from there to work as a journalist and then editor at other local papers and a magazine for a number of years. Unfortunately, further health problems have made full time work an impossibility but those words still need to escape, so she is now a freelance writer. Amanda is also co-owner of the website www.expatfamiliesinspain.com
